Porch Roof Winter-Proof Before First Snowfall

We got by with a little help from our friends!

Thanks to the help we got from friends and family over the last two weeks, we were able to get a roof membrane over the porch roof just as the first snowflakes of the season started to fall.

Still to come: metal roofing. We are hopeful that can happen before the new year, but we just got two snowstorms in three days so it might not work out.

We are grateful to our neighbors the Barretts and the Hungs; our friends Emilee, Max, and Felicia; and my Aunt Sue for repeatedly being there when we needed you! Our house is going to be warm and dry for years to come because these folks stepped up to help out, either on the porch directly or by watching JJ while Josh and I worked.

If we learned only one lesson on this house project, it is that community matters. Many people have paid it forward and helped us out. We are looking forward to helping others out in the same way. This is the kind of community we love to be a part of!
