As promised, here's an update on the front porch!
Josh built a porch into the house design from the beginning. Though the details of the design have morphed over time, the basic dimensions - 10 feet deep by 54 feet long, wrapping around the sides to join roof lines with two additions - remain the same.

Josh sized the second floor windows to fit the pitch of the roof for the porch. And he sized the roof based on expected snow load plus his good design aesthetic. I think it makes a HUGE difference for curb appeal, and I can tell you it is a great place to hang out - and it isn't even done yet.

This week Josh finished installing rafters and got 2/3 of the way through installing the v-groove pine roofing material. Putting on the porch roof made a big difference in curb appeal and overall look. Thanks to that porch roof this project is finally starting to look like a different house!
