Our Town's Police Log

We live in a small town. Sunapee New Hampshire has a full-time population around 3,500 people. It is a beautiful spot, with lakes and a ski mountain and plenty of charm. We love where we live, and I wanted to share something we found amusing.

While registering Josh's vehicle this year, I happened to stumble onto the town's police department website. They published a Call Log for the week prior. It made us LOL. Maybe it will make you smile, too.

Here are some highlights:

  • A man called about his stepdaughter not returning his keys. (Already funny.) The police responded by locating the stepdaughter at the library. She said she forgot about the keys and gave them to the officer, who returned them to the original caller.
  • No less than three people called about a mountain lion sighting in the town. One guy called to report that what he saw was definitely a bobcat, not a mountain lion. (Josh and I pictured him as someone who would say, "Those folks who think they saw a mountain lion are crazy. This is obviously a bobcat. Dummies.")
  • Someone called the police to report a sick fox at the old town library building. The police checked it out, determined it did look like a sick fox, and "dispatched the fox and disposed of it." (Justice, indeed.)

We are grateful to live where we live! It is a small town with blessedly small town problems. Come visit us if you are in the area!
